Joe Ledwick was working for another fence company when he knew he’d build his own. He bought one tool a week with his paycheck. One job that paid about fifteen hundred dollars made up his mind — he put his thousand-dollar Christmas bonus into four new tires and heavier springs for a work truck, traded his white Corvette to make it happen, and hired his first employee, Pat Williams, still his best friend today.
The whole operation started as a single shed in his dad’s backyard — it is still standing on the company’s property today. In 1993 it incorporated in Florida as Country Boy Fence Company, Inc. Teressa kept the office and the books while the kids grew up around the yard and the wire spools.
Country Boy Fence has grown into one of Northeast Florida’s leading commercial and industrial fence contractors — and stayed family-run the whole way. Joe still owns the company and helps lead every crew and job. The kids who grew up around the shop now help him and Teressa run and lead the office.
